White Bear Lake, MN, November 2007 –Purcell, Inc. recently received a 2007 award for outstanding achievement in Residential Kitchen over $120,000 at the 11th annual Contractor of the Year (COTY) Awards ceremony. The event, held November 7, was hosted by the Minnesota Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI).

The COTY Awards recognize excellence in the Minnesota remodeling industry in 20 categories including sustainable remodeling, residential kitchens, bathrooms and exteriors, and commercial projects.” Purcell, Inc. illustrates the best of the best in remodeling in the Twin Cities,” said Bjorn Freudenthal, president of NARI of Minnesota. “This area has a wealth of industry talent and we are thrilled to honor the work of this company.”

This project transformed an 80’s townhouse with a closed, dark, one entrance kitchen into a bright, easy flowing, formal and informal open space ideal for entertaining and the envy of any gourmet chef. The original kitchen was a vanilla shell with dated cabinets, counter tops and appliances. The transformed kitchen has Cumaru wood floors, custom rift-cut white oak cabinets, glass mosaic tile backsplash, a custom designed range hood covered with stone, high end appliances and an island with an innovative integrated stainless steel counter top which has a unique rectangular prep sink that doubles as the entertainment “beverage center.” See Purcell’s web site (www.purcellquality.com) for pictures of this and other Purcell projects.

“We are thrilled to be honored for this project, which we believe highlights a renovation that demonstrates fine craftsmanship which most importantly meets the needs of our client,” said Tim Purcell Jr., President, Purcell, Inc. “It is an honor to be chosen to receive this prestigious award.”] With final scores based on photo submissions and project details, the contestants were judged by industry peers that included professional remodelers, designers and architects affiliated with the Milwaukee chapter of NARI under a reciprocal agreement. Judging was based on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty and entry presentation.
